Tecar therapy is a safe and effective treatment that can help cure a large variety of dysfunctions such as urological, gynecological, and colon-proctological. The possibility to operate both in athermy or diathermy allows its use in pathologies and dysfunctions that can be in acute, subacute, and chronic phases, and it can be also used in pre and post-interventions of pelvic or abdominal surgery and for post-partum.
The use of diathermy in the gynecological field started at the beginning of the XX century. Specifically, Professor Hugo Sellheim (1871-1936), Leipzig University OB/Gyn chairman, wrote various essays to take some steps toward the possibility of delivering heat to the feminine genital area with diathermy. In particular, he was able to confirm that using one rectal or vaginal electrode, a “thermal penetration” could be obtained in a therapeutic way, which was sufficient to treat all the pelvis’s organs. Moreover, its use in inflammatory processes and its effect on prolonged analgesic action were also studied. As a result, the findings of 50 gynecological cases treated with diathermy were published. At the same time, the first general indications for this technique were established, laying the groundwork for future applications.
In recent years, there has been increasing interest in urogynecological pathologies and the rehabilitation of the pelvic floor as a whole. This is because this anatomical structure, which closes the pelvic abdominal cavity, plays a fundamental role in supporting the viscera, controlling continence, and performing its functions through a complex muscle-connective system. Consequently, pelvic floor rehabilitation addresses dysfunctions of an organ or apparatus within this area through manual therapy, special exercises, and instrumental therapy.
Thanks to significant technological advancements in tecar therapy devices, diathermy has become a widely used tool in pelvic floor rehabilitation and urogynecological physiotherapy.
Easytech has developed the T Care Plus Vag tecar therapy device, which is equipped with monopolar capacitive and resistive electrodes, bipolar electrodes, and intracavitary mono and bipolar probes with energy emission and temperature sensors for safe use.
The T Care Plus Vag device acts on biological tissues non-invasively, activating from the inside and amplifying the natural reparative and regenerative processes. Specifically, the use of a radiofrequency current that provokes a deep thermal response inside the body produces an immediate analgesic and anti-inflammatory action on the tissues.
Furthermore, the therapeutic effects obtained with the T Care Plus Vag vary depending on the power and temperature selected. For example, when low levels of thermal energy are used, endocellular biostimulation is produced, activating microcirculation and oxygenation of the tissues. In contrast, the use of high energy levels combines the endocellular effects with that of endogenous hyperthermia, which produces vasodilation and stimulation of neocollagenesis.
Therefore, this device is suitable for treating a wide range of pelvic floor disorders and dysfunctions, including urinary incontinence, prolapses, vaginismus, hypertrophismus, and chronic pelvic pain. Additionally, it is indicated for use pre- and post-pelvic or abdominal surgery, as well as postpartum.
