The physical therapist is the healthcare professional who, more than many others, shares time, listening skills, and a relationship with the patient. Persistent pain, injuries, loss of autonomy, and uncertainty about the future frequently lead to emotional distress, thought disorders, and complex behaviors that directly impact treatment adherence and clinical outcomes.

This course provides physical therapists with practical and immediately applicable tools to understand the main psychological conditions that can emerge in rehabilitation, improve clinical communication, recognize warning signs, and understand when and how to refer patients to a mental health professional. The goal is not to "become a psychologist," but to work better as a physical therapist, with greater effectiveness, safety, and professional protection.

Led by Dr. Maurizio Iengo, psychologist and physical therapist, the course integrates a dual clinical perspective: body and mind, therapeutic relationship and professional boundaries, empathy and clear decision-making.
